Position Overview
The Finance Manager serves as a strategic business partner and operational leader, guiding the resort's financial health while fostering collaboration across all departments. This role manages daily finance operations, budgeting, forecasting, and performance analysis, ensuring compliance with Hyatt standards, Alila values, GAAP, and applicable regulations.

This is a fully on-site role at our Big Sur property. The ideal candidate combines a strong background in hospitality finance with a passion for leadership, operational excellence, and working in a dynamic luxury environment rooted in sustainability and personalized service.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Strategy & Oversight

• Lead preparation, analysis, and presentation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial results
• Manage accounting operations, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and adherence to internal controls
• Provide insights to the Director of Finance and Executive Committee to enhance profitability and efficiency
• Oversee cash management, capital expenditure tracking, and financial risk analysis

Budgeting, Forecasting & Analysis

• Develop and maintain annual budgets and rolling forecasts
• Partner with department heads to set financial goals, track performance, and strengthen financial literacy
• Conduct variance analysis and identify revenue growth and cost optimization opportunities
• Lead financial modeling and scenario planning for strategic decisions

Leadership & Collaboration

• Supervise and mentor accounting and finance team members, cultivating a culture of accountability and professional growth
• Serve as a liaison between finance and operational departments to support business objectives
• Drive process improvements and leverage technology to enhance reporting and efficiency

Salary Range: $70,000-$90,000 annually, based on experience and qualifications.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (Master's degree or CPA preferred)
• Minimum 3-5 years of progressive accounting or finance experience, preferably in hospitality or luxury resorts
• Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting standards
• Demonstrated experience with budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis
• Proficiency in financial systems and ERP software; experience with Hyatt systems a plus
• Advanced Excel skills and ability to analyze large datasets
• Proven leadership skills with the ability to motivate and develop a high-performing team
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills to partner effectively with operational leaders
• High attention to detail, problem-solving ability, and commitment to deadlines
• Ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality and integrity
• Commitment to environmental stewardship and alignment with Alila Ventana Big Sur's sustainability practices

Physical Requirements & Additional Qualifications

• Ability to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods, including navigating resort property to attend meetings and perform duties
• Occasionally lift, carry, or move up to 20 pounds
• Visual acuity and manual dexterity for working with financial systems and documents
• Valid driver's license and reliable transportation required for commuting to Big Sur
• Flexible schedule to meet business needs, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays
