Overview
The Social Media Manager will lead HSSV’s social media presence across platforms, balancing day-to-day management with long-term planning. This role is responsible for developing and executing a comprehensive social media plan that grows engagement, builds community, and elevates HSSV’s brand. The Social Media Manager will drive social media planning and oversee the social calendar, ensuring content is planned, produced, and published in alignment with organizational goals. They will track social media performance and ensure our channels reflect the voice and mission of the organization. The ideal individual is highly collaborative, proactive, and comfortable capturing photo and video content to support dynamic, real-time social sharing.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Develop and execute HSSV’s social media plan to expand reach, engagement, and visibility.
- Manage the social media calendar and publish content across platforms, ensuring consistent voice and brand alignment.
- Capture and produce short-form photo and video content to support dynamic storytelling.
- Monitor and respond to public inquiries, comments, and messages with professionalism and empathy.
- Align with the Marketing team on paid social campaigns to maximize visibility and ROI.
- Partner with Marketing, Philanthropy, Programs, and other teams to amplify campaigns, events, and fundraising initiatives.
- Collaborate with designers, photographers, and the Marketing team to create compelling content and visuals.
- Track and analyze performance metrics to refine social media planning and guide decision-making.
- Stay current on trends and best practices to deepen engagement with HSSV’s audiences.
- Other job duties may be assigned as needed.

Requirements
- Proven experience managing social media channels for a brand, nonprofit, or mission-driven organization.
- Passionate about animal welfare and a desire to make a difference in the community; ability to work in an emotional field where a positive attitude, sense of humor, and empathy are essential.
- Strong understanding and ability to leverage social media platforms, trends, and analytics.
- Outstanding interpersonal and relationship building skills (with diverse internal and external audiences), including excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Photography and basic video production/editing skills required, with sensitivity to subjects’ comfort levels and ability to capture authentic, mission-aligned assets.
- Proficient with social media management tools and analytics platforms (e.g., Meta Business Suite, Sprout, Hootsuite, Google Analytics), with the ability to interpret data and translate insights into action.
- Strong collaboration skills and ability to work across departments with diverse stakeholders.
- Ability to comfortably work and interact with a variety of animals.
- Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
- Self-motivated and results-oriented, with a passion for community engagement and mission-driven work.
- Nonprofit or animal welfare experience a plus.
Work Days and Hours
Primarily Monday–Friday schedule, with participation in Marketing events during evenings and/or weekends as needed. This is a local-hire opportunity with onsite presence expected, though a hybrid schedule may be available based on HSSV needs.
