The School of Finance and the Institute of Chinese Financial Studies at Southwestern University of Finance and Economics (SWUFE) are seeking several tenure-track Assistant, Associate or Full Professors in Finance/Economics to join our esteemed faculty team. We welcome applicants (scholars or outstanding Ph.D. students) with the following fields of specialization: macro finance (including Central Bank and monetary policy, financial regulation), digital economy and financial (insurance) technology, financial engineering, actuarial science, insurance, commercial bank, machine learning, big data analysis, international finance (including cross-border finance), wealth management, financial risk management, credit management, financial security, securities market investment, etc.
About Us
Southwestern University of Finance and Economics is a renowned finance and economics institution located in Chengdu, China. We are globally recognized for academic excellence in the fields of finance and economics, equipped with a faculty of experienced professionals who provide first-rate education programs and mentorship to enable students to become future leaders in the financial domain. Currently, SWUFE has more than 15,300 full-time undergraduates, 8,500 master students and 1,400 Ph.D. students.
As one of the most famous schools at SWUFE, the history of the School of Finance can be traced back to the Business Disciplines of Guanghua University established in 1925. The predecessor of the Institute of Chinese Financial Studies is the Institute of Financial Research established in 1986. The school and the institute were integrated in 2021 to pool school-wide resources of finance disciplines. The school and the institute have currently a vibrant team of over 180 faculty members and over 5,000 students. The School of Finance consists of five departments, including Department of Finance, Department of Insurance and Actuarial Science, Department of Securities and Futures, Department of Financial Engineering and Department of FinTech. The Institute of Chinese Financial Studies consists of four research centers, including the Research Center for Financial Theory Innovation with Chinese Characteristics, the Research Center for Financial Security and Development, the Research Center for Insurance Development, and the Research Center for Capital Market.
Requirements
Job Qualifications
A successful candidate should possess:
- A Ph.D. degree (obtained or expected in 2027) in Finance (including Insurance) or Economics from an accredited institution;
- Impressive publication record and teaching experience or great potential for outstanding research and excellent teaching;
- Commitment to academic excellence.
Applicants prior teaching and research experience will be highly valued. We particularly welcome applicants with experiences of leading research projects and a close network of academic counterparts.
Responsibilities
The primary roles and responsibilities of the positions include:
- Conducting high-quality research and publishing in accredited finance/economics journals;
- Teaching undergraduate and graduate finance/economics courses;
- Advising and mentoring undergraduate and graduate students;
- Contributing to the intellectual and research community of the school and institute through active participation in academic activities and initiatives.
Compensation Package
Salary and benefits will be determined by the contract signed by both parties. Individuals who meet the requirements for direct recruitment under Guanghua Talent Project can also enjoy the complementary benefits.
